Week 29/30 Update

Hello everyone!

We had a great appointment this morning and got to see our little man again. He was being a bit uncooperative for the ultrasound, but it actually worked out nicely because the tech was so sweet and used the 3D scan! So, we got a couple of cute close-ups of his face (sorry if they are a little hard to see). He kept holding his hand in front of his face so it was a bit tricky, but you can see his cute little nose, eyes and lips! Everything else is looking good. My placenta is still a bit close to my cervix, so my doctor is going to continue to monitor its movement over the next few weeks. We return to the doctor on January 5 for our last "monthly" visit. Then we'll move to 2 week intervals and then down to every week. I can't believe how fast time is flying! Only 10 more weeks and our little guy will make his big debut.

Also, we're picking our crib up tomorrow (yay!) so I'll post some pictures once Ryan has a chance to assemble it. Hopefully this weekend :-) And here's last week's belly pic:

Hope everyone is having an excellent week so far!

Love,
Amy

p.s. As most of you know, we have chosen's Baby Debo's name and have decided to keep this a surprise until he arrives. No amount of badgering will convince us to tell you - so you'll just have to wait to find out! Stop asking for hints...we are not going to tell you :-)

New belly pics!

25 weeks

26 weeks

27 weeks (officially in 3rd trimester now!)

28 weeks

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving last week with family and hope that everyone else did too! Personally, I enjoyed eating everything I wanted without feeling guilty! It was nice for me to have a few days off of work as well to get some things done around the house. We're now officially ready for the baby's furniture as we've completed all of the painting and replaced the carpet in the nursery. And I'm thrilled that his crib should be here in 2 weeks! YAY! I'm excited to put it together (and really I mean Ryan putting it together) and get his bedding set up. Hopefully his dresser will be delivered sometime in early January.
I took my first prenatal yoga class this week - and my first yoga class ever. It was very relaxing and not too crunchy granola for me. So, I think I'll keep it up to relieve some of the aches and pains that I'm feeling as Baby Debo gets bigger! I just hope he didn't get all of Ryan's height genes - my small torso will be bursting by February!
We also booked all of our childbirth classes, so we'll be very busy in January. I'm glad to get these on the calendar though and check one more thing off of my list. Pediatrician is next, so if you have a recommendation, please send it my way.
We hope that everyone is enjoying their weekend! It just started snowing here, so we'll see if anything actually acumulates...We have our next doctor's appointment on 12/15 where we'll have another ultrasound. I'll be sure to post some pictures for you all to see! Only 12 more weeks and our little guy will be here!
Love,
Amy

Nursery progress

We made good progress on the nursery over the past 2 weekends. Ryan painted last weekend and today he and Dad put up a white chair rail and installed a new ceiling fan. (Cooper helped too and has posed in front of his hard work for you all to admire) It looks really nice! We also ordered new carpet which should be installed in the next week or so. I can't wait to get the furniture so that we can start to decorate!
Everything else is going well. We had another check-up with the doctor this week and everything looks perfect, our little boy is growing right on schedule and his heartbeat was very strong. He's also getting a bit more active and likes to "beat me up" throughout the day - but I don't mind one bit! Our next appointment is 12/15 and we'll have another ultrasound. I'll be sure to post the pictures as I'm sure he'll have grown quite a bit since the last time!
We hope everyone else is having a wonderful weekend!

Big decisions!

~ 24 weeks ~

I can't believe how fast the time is flying and that we're already 6 months along! And of course, I feel like I'm growing bigger each day! Pics to be posted later on today...We made some big decisions over the past couple of weeks, so I'm relieved to get them out of the way.

First, we chose our daycare - The Cedarhouse School. We are both really excited about this facility and are 100% confidant that baby boy Debo will be in good hands while we're at work. Feel free to check out their website at www.cedarhouseschool.com. We know quite a few people who have their kids there and are loving it, so we're very excited. Although I can't say I'll actually be excited to leave him there everyday...

Next, we completed our baby registry yesterday. YAY! And thankfully, my wonderful sister, Jennifer came along to share her expertise so that we didn't get too lost/overwhelmed. We owe her a BIG thank you for doing that with us as it isn't exactly the most exciting activity (and she's already done it 3 times). For those that are interested, we are registered at BabiesRUs.

Lastly, we finally chose our nursery decor and bedding. And, much to Ryan's dismay, we will not have a sports theme...I wanted something that was boyish, but not overly "themed", which proved to be a challenge. I also decided that I didn't want blue wall color, but something not so cliche for a boy. And since we won't be using the bumper or blanket, we needed a fun sheet and crib skirt option. Soooooo after weeks of searching, we are ordering the Mod Turtle bedding set from Kidsline http://www.kidslineinc.com/products/infant/mod_turtle.php . Again, we'll be keeping the turtle accents to a minimum (if used at all). We are going to be using the front guest bedroom for the nursery, which is already a light tan color. We'll be installing a white chair rail (with Daddy's help) then painting the bottom half of the wall chocolate brown and leaving the top half tan. I'm very excited and can't wait to start decorating! We are currently accepting applications for volunteers :-)

Hope that everyone is enjoying their weekend and the gorgeous fall weather!

It's a boy!!!

~21 weeks 4 days pregnant~

We had an awesome appointment this morning and were able to find out that we're having a wonderful little BOY! We were in a bit of shock at first because we were both convinced it was a girl. Every single old wives tale symptom pointed to girl. The chinese and lunar calendars pointed to girl. My mother's instinct pointed to girl. And just about everyone else around us thought it would be a girl as well. I guess our little man proved everyone wrong!

Our little guy was moving and shaking all around during the entire ultrasound and we got some great pictures of him - face, lips, spine, feet, belly, head and that adorable profile view! Oh, and his boy parts of course which he wasn't at all shy in showing off for us! Maybe a sign of trouble to come...He is measuring right on track and currently weighs 1lb 1oz. His heartbeat today was 156 - definitely a little mover and shaker!

Ryan and I are absolutely thrilled to be expecting a little baby boy and we can't wait to meet him in February. It definitely feels more real now and we can't wait to start shopping and decorating the nursery. Okay, I started shopping already - I picked up a few cute outfits on the way home today - I couldn't resist! We only have 4 more months to build his wardrobe :-)

We'll get to see our little guy again 8 weeks from now. They discovered that I have a low-lying placenta today, which isn't a huge concern, but my doctor wants to monitor it for any complications. Typically it corrects itself, but if it not, it poses no risk to me or baby. But, the good news is that we get another ultrasound! YAY!

Hope that everyone is doing well and we'll talk to you soon!

Football and our BIG ultrasound

21 weeks pregnant
We took a trip out to Blacksburg last weekend to watch the Hokies play Boston College. We had an awesome time and it was fun catching up with old college friends! And of course, we won the game which made things even better! I also got to wear my "Future Hokie" maternity t-shirt which was really cute! Now that I finally have a noticeable baby bump, its fun to get comments from strangers :-)

I'm walking today in a Breast Cancer 5k fundraiser with my friend Julie. The temperature has taken a nose dive in VA so I'll have to bundle up! But, I'm looking forward to getting some exercise and helping a good cause.

Ryan and I are super excited for our BIG ultrasound appointment on Tuesday morning so that we can finally discover if we're having a boy or a girl. I swear I never thought this day would come!!! I did a little shopping with my mom, neice and sisters yesterday and got a few cute baby things in both boy and girl just in case. The deals were too good to pass up! And don't worry I'll be sure to post a note here on Tuesday and send an email as well to let you all know what we're having.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!!

Belly Pictures!

Our new computer is up and running! YAY! So, we can finally share some pictures of my growing baby bump. We actually weren't able to transfer the files from our old computer, so we're missing the first picture (week 13). But I'm posting the first few to get us started. ENJOY!

We ordered the nursery furniture

We originally planned to register and order all of our furniture after we find out the sex of the baby. But, after our doctor's appointment this week, I started to freak out since we won't find out until I'm almost 22 weeks. I've heard crazy stories about how long furniture can take to come in, so I started stressing out about being far behind on this. So, we went shopping today and got an awesome deal on our furniture from USA Baby. We only paid $99 for the crib! Whoo hoo! We checked out the options at Babies R Us as well, but they didn't seem as high quality and they were actually much more expensive.

We ordered a crib, double dresser (to use as a changing table as well) and the bed side rails (to convert to a double bed eventually) from Cocoon in the Espresso finish. What do you think?

Oh, and we also bought our new computer today. So, hopefully if all goes as planned, I will be able to post some pictures tomorrow.

Doctor Appointment Update

Today I am 18 weeks, 4 days pregnant

We had another great appointment yesterday. The baby's heartbeat was very strong and much louder than a few weeks ago. Such a good feeling! We also scheduled our anatomy ultrasound for October 20. So in 3 weeks we'll know if this little baby is a boy or a girl! I was hoping that we'd have this a little bit sooner, but I guess we'll just have to wait a bit longer to find out.

Hope everyone else is doing well! We're still working on getting a new computer, so I apologize for the lack of pictures. They will be coming soon!

First Daycare visit

Ryan and I visited the Primrose School near our house yesterday and we were actually very pleased with the place. I was worried I might have a breakdown, but I managed to escape tear-free! Whoo hoo! We've got 3 more places that we're looking into, but hope to make a decision soon. Now, we just have to start saving our pennies to pay for it! haha...

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday!

- Beginning to work on some additional training for Cooper so that he is a bit calmer when baby arrives
- Switching over to maternity clothes soon, pants are getting tight and uncomfortable!
- Relaxing and feeling less nervous with each week that passes

Welcome!

So, first I'll admit that I know nothing about starting a blog. So, forgive me if things are a little wacky at first!

I'll be using the blog to post updates on our doctor's appointments, ultrasound pictures, belly pictures, and other events happening as we get ready for baby. We hope that you'll follow our journey and provide your thoughts and comments along the way. (just make them nice, otherwise this pregnant lady may cry...LOL)
