Finished Nursery!

~ 38 Weeks ~

We finished Baby D's nursery over the weekend! I'm so relieved that everything is coming together finally. We are starting to feel like we are actually ready for him to arrive. Clothes are washed, car seat installed, nursery done, bags packed, toys/gear put together. Kind of scary, but so exciting!!!!

We go back to the doctor tomorrow for our weekly checkup. We will also discuss induction options tomorrow - so if all goes well, baby D will have his birthday sometime next week! WHOA! I can't believe that he's almost here, but Ryan and I are incredibly anxious and excited to welcome our son into the world. We'll keep everyone updated on plans and of course, let you know if anything happens sooner!

Enjoy these pics of the completed nursery!

He's almost here!

~ 37 weeks ~

Wow! Looks like I've been slacking on this blog - apologies everyone! Things have been crazy busy with us over the past few weeks as we try to prepare for our little man's arrival. Everything is going perfectly with Baby D and myself. He's measuring right on track and he'll be here in less than 3 weeks. So crazy!!! Here's what's been going on with us while I was MIA...

I had a very nice baby shower thrown for me by my two fabulous sisters a few weeks ago. It was wonderful to spend time with family and we finally got to meet Becky's boyfriend that she's been hiding since May. Final approvals are pending, but so far he makes the cut.

Last weekend my dear friend Julie through me another shower - so fun! However, mother nature decided to throw a wrench in our plans and dump 12 inches of snow on us! But, we decided to keep the shower as is and a few of my favorite ladies were able to dig themselves out to come celebrate with me!

And wouldn't you know that we got more snow this weekend!!! But it seems that Richmond is learning how to clean up a bit faster. So, we were able to get out today to get the car seats inspected and run a few other errands. All in all, we are about 95% ready for little man to make his appearance. His dresser arrives this week so that I can finally put all of his clothes away and I'll get to finish the decor for his room. Many thanks to my Mom who made an adorable wall hanging and a great pillow! His room is almost complete - will post pictures soon.

We did experience some crazy contractions last night - but it was a false alarm. We're back at the doctor on Tuesday to check things out again. I'm just hoping he'll hang in for another 10-12 days. We'll see...

Happy New Year!

Hi everyone!

We hope that you are having a fantastic 2010 so far. Ryan and I took a quick trip down to the Outer Banks last week to ring in the New Year with some friends. We had a fabulous time even though it was rainy and cold. It's scary to think that will probably be our last getaway before little man arrives.

We started our pre-baby classes this week including childbirth and newborn nuances. I think the childbirth class scared us both a bit with the reality of everything that is yet to come. But, the newborn class was a bit more fun. Ryan almost broke the arms off of the baby doll when trying to put a t-shirt on it. Hilarious! Thankfully a real baby is a bit more limber.

We also had our normal doctor's appointment this week and everything is looking good. The baby's heartbeat was a strong 150 and I'm measuring right on schedule. We'll return to the doctor in 2 weeks for another ultrasound to check my placenta position. Last time it had moved in the almost normal range, so hopefully it will have fully fixed itself next time. The risk we're facing if it doesn't move is having a c-section - so nothing to get too worried about.

Here are some recent belly shots for your enjoyment as well. I'm starting to feel very very large and I think our little guy has had yet another growth spurt.

Week 29/30 Update

Hello everyone!

We had a great appointment this morning and got to see our little man again. He was being a bit uncooperative for the ultrasound, but it actually worked out nicely because the tech was so sweet and used the 3D scan! So, we got a couple of cute close-ups of his face (sorry if they are a little hard to see). He kept holding his hand in front of his face so it was a bit tricky, but you can see his cute little nose, eyes and lips! Everything else is looking good. My placenta is still a bit close to my cervix, so my doctor is going to continue to monitor its movement over the next few weeks. We return to the doctor on January 5 for our last "monthly" visit. Then we'll move to 2 week intervals and then down to every week. I can't believe how fast time is flying! Only 10 more weeks and our little guy will make his big debut.

Close up of his face (kinda squished between placenta and cord)

Last one where you can see his little lips

Also, we're picking our crib up tomorrow (yay!) so I'll post some pictures once Ryan has a chance to assemble it. Hopefully this weekend :-) And here's last week's belly pic:

Hope everyone is having an excellent week so far!

Love,
Amy

p.s. As most of you know, we have chosen's Baby Debo's name and have decided to keep this a surprise until he arrives. No amount of badgering will convince us to tell you - so you'll just have to wait to find out! Stop asking for hints...we are not going to tell you :-)

New belly pics!

27 weeks (officially in 3rd trimester now!)

28 weeks

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving last week with family and hope that everyone else did too! Personally, I enjoyed eating everything I wanted without feeling guilty! It was nice for me to have a few days off of work as well to get some things done around the house. We're now officially ready for the baby's furniture as we've completed all of the painting and replaced the carpet in the nursery. And I'm thrilled that his crib should be here in 2 weeks! YAY! I'm excited to put it together (and really I mean Ryan putting it together) and get his bedding set up. Hopefully his dresser will be delivered sometime in early January.
I took my first prenatal yoga class this week - and my first yoga class ever. It was very relaxing and not too crunchy granola for me. So, I think I'll keep it up to relieve some of the aches and pains that I'm feeling as Baby Debo gets bigger! I just hope he didn't get all of Ryan's height genes - my small torso will be bursting by February!
We also booked all of our childbirth classes, so we'll be very busy in January. I'm glad to get these on the calendar though and check one more thing off of my list. Pediatrician is next, so if you have a recommendation, please send it my way.
We hope that everyone is enjoying their weekend! It just started snowing here, so we'll see if anything actually acumulates...We have our next doctor's appointment on 12/15 where we'll have another ultrasound. I'll be sure to post some pictures for you all to see! Only 12 more weeks and our little guy will be here!
Love,
Amy

Nursery progress

We made good progress on the nursery over the past 2 weekends. Ryan painted last weekend and today he and Dad put up a white chair rail and installed a new ceiling fan. (Cooper helped too and has posed in front of his hard work for you all to admire) It looks really nice! We also ordered new carpet which should be installed in the next week or so. I can't wait to get the furniture so that we can start to decorate!
Everything else is going well. We had another check-up with the doctor this week and everything looks perfect, our little boy is growing right on schedule and his heartbeat was very strong. He's also getting a bit more active and likes to "beat me up" throughout the day - but I don't mind one bit! Our next appointment is 12/15 and we'll have another ultrasound. I'll be sure to post the pictures as I'm sure he'll have grown quite a bit since the last time!
We hope everyone else is having a wonderful weekend!
